Wild flowers in the wind

I wrote this song with the colors and movement of wildflowers in mind. The violin is the principle voice and sways musically. The vocals represent flashes of color between the moving grasses and plants of a field. I used principles of 12 tone composition techniques to write this music. You can buy Elements Album here

Fire Dances

I was given as a gift the book Sai’k’uz Ts’eke Stoney Creek Woman The Story of Mary John by Bridget Moran. I was very moved by her story.When I moved to the north I was blessed to stay at a cabin at the Potlatch House with the Carrier People.  At this time in my life I was experiencing a kind of renewal and I spent some very good times with a friend who would visit me and we would make a fire and talk and be comforted. Mothers Wish

This song is about how a mother feels as her child grows up and goes on his or her own path. How a mother continues to think about her child and wishes for all good things. I have used some unusual metaphors here. The earth being the placing of a parent’s footsteps in the hope that her child will follow the good directions she sets. The ice is singing! I have many times heard this tonal events as the ice is forming on the northern lakes….the sound is an echoing hum, howl or song-like natural phenomenon.
